Describe:
I used a silhouette of my horse Woody and a sunset photo from Glen Valley Farm. The shooting modes I used were 1/60th of a second shutter speed and I used the AE/AF focus lock on my cell phone. The angles I used were straight on and the two elements I used were shape of the horse and color of the sunset showing a variety of bright oranges and yellows.
The two principles I used were contrast between the bright orange and yellow color of the sunset and the black and white of the background. I also used emphasis on the horse as it is the largest subject in the photo.
Create:
The tools I used to create this photo is a medium shutter speed and AE/AF focus mode on my iPhone. I combined the two images in Photopea using a lighten layer blend mode to combine my images and a black and white filter for the background.
Big Idea:
I chose my horse Woody as my subject as he loves to be outside the barn to eat grass and the beautiful sunsets that are at the barn where he lives. This fits with the criteria of the environment is reflected in the person/animal silhouette.
Goals:
To improve my double exposure; I would like to move to an area where the background does not include distractions such as outdoor equipment. I would create the silhouette in an empty field or against a plain building background.
Thoughts:
I'm always looking for environments that create beautiful silhouettes. I've noticed that doorways within the barn in the evening create the best silhouettes of cats and dogs moving through the barn as I complete my evening chores.
